Custom Cornhole Wraps: How to Choose a Design and Apply It

Custom cornhole wraps are the fastest way to make a plain pair of boards look pro. Your team logo, your family name, a wedding date or a flag can run edge to edge on both boards. Here is how to pick a design that plays well, then how to apply a cornhole wrap and cut the hole cleanly.

We are Martin Graphics, a sign, decal and apparel shop in Wayne County, Southern Illinois. We have been printing and installing vinyl since 2009, and we print every cornhole wrap to order in our own shop.

What you get with our cornhole board wraps

  • Sized for a regulation board. Each wrap is 25 x 49 inches: the 24 x 48 inch board face plus half an inch on every side to fold over the edge.
  • Laminated vinyl. We print on 4 year outdoor vinyl with a laminate over the print to protect it from bags, scuffs and weather.
  • A pair or a single. Order a pair for both boards, or one wrap to fix a single board. A pair can use the same design on both boards or a different design on each.

Boards are not included. See current prices and start your design on our custom cornhole wraps page.

How to choose a cornhole wrap design

Design for 27 feet away

Players stand about 27 feet from the far board, so fine details and small words disappear. Big, bold shapes, strong contrast and large lettering read best.

Keep words away from the edges

The outside half inch folds over the board edge, so anything printed there ends up on the side of the board. Our designer shows a line that tells you where to keep your words. Let colors and patterns run all the way out, and keep names, dates and logos inside the line.

Plan around the hole

A regulation hole is 6 inches across, centered across the board and 9 inches down from the top edge of the board face. The wrap prints solid over the hole, so your design runs clean. Tick the Hole Guide option in the designer to see the hole and a ring around it, so you can keep faces and words out of that spot. With the guide on, we also print a thin line on the wrap where the hole goes.

Use both boards

A pair can carry two different designs. Some favorites:

  • Weddings: the couple's names and date, or Team Bride on one board and Team Groom on the other.
  • Teams and schools: the mascot on one board, the team name on the other.
  • Businesses: your logo on a solid brand color for picnics and tailgates.
  • Family and patriotic: your last name and the year, or a flag or military theme.

Upload the largest, sharpest file you have, since the art is stretched to 4 feet tall. The designer warns you if a picture is too small to print sharp.

How to apply a cornhole wrap

This is the method we use in the shop. A helper makes it easier.

What you need

  • A felt edge squeegee (a soft cloth works in a pinch)
  • A sharp utility or craft knife with fresh blades
  • Rubbing alcohol, a lint free towel and masking tape
  • A hair dryer or heat gun on low (optional, for corners)

Step 1: Clean and prep the board

Vinyl sticks best to a smooth, sealed, dust free surface, so let fresh paint cure fully. Wipe the face and edges with rubbing alcohol and let them dry. Work at room temperature, not in a cold garage or hot sun.

Step 2: Line up the top edge

Lay the wrap face up on the board with the backing still on, top of the design at the hole end. Slide it until the extra half inch is even on every side, then tape across the top edge to hold it.

Step 3: Squeegee from the center out

Flip the wrap back over the tape, peel a few inches of backing off the top and cut that strip away. Lay the top edge down and press it from the middle outward. Then pull the backing out from underneath a little at a time while you squeegee with firm, overlapping strokes from the center out, pushing air to the edges. If a bubble forms, lift the vinyl gently and lay it back down.

Step 4: Wrap the edges

Fold the extra half inch over each edge and press it down firmly. At the corners, trim a small notch so the sides fold flat without bunching. A little low heat helps the vinyl relax. Trim anything hanging past the edge.

Step 5: Cut the hole cleanly

Turn the board over so you are looking at the back. With a fresh blade, run the knife around the inside edge of the hole, letting the wood guide the blade. Keep the blade flat against the hole wall and use steady, light passes. The circle of vinyl drops out and leaves a clean, round edge.

With the Hole Guide line, you can also cut from the front along the printed circle. Press the cut edge down firmly when you finish.

Step 6: Let it set

Give the adhesive a day to grab before a big game. Clean the wraps with mild soap and water, and store the boards out of the weather.

Cornhole wrap FAQ

What size cornhole wrap do I need?

Our wraps are 25 x 49 inches, made for a regulation 24 x 48 inch board face. The extra half inch on every side folds over the edge.

Is the hole cut out already?

No. The wrap prints solid over the hole so your design lines up. You cut the hole after the wrap is on, from the back side with a sharp blade, or follow the printed Hole Guide line from the front.

Can each board have a different design?

Yes. A pair can use the same design on both boards or a different design on each.

Do the wraps come with boards?

No. We make the wraps only. They stick onto a regulation board you already have or build.
