Every shirt is dyed on its own
Tie-dye is made one garment at a time, so no two shirts are identical — the swirl, the spread and exactly where each color lands vary from shirt to shirt. The photos show the colorway, not the particular shirt you will receive. That is the nature of the product and part of why people want it.
Designing on a busy garment
Give your artwork an outline. A tie-dye shirt already has color everywhere, and a design without a clear edge can sink into the pattern underneath. A white or black outline, or setting the design on a solid shape, keeps it legible from across a field. We print a white underbase on every tie-dye shirt so your colors stay true over the dye — that is included, not an extra.

Sizes: Youth XS to Youth L
The 1000Y is made in four youth sizes, Youth XS, Youth S, Youth M and Youth L. There is no Youth XL in this style — Colortone does not make one. A child who has outgrown a Youth L is ready for our adult tie-dye t-shirt, which starts at a Small and prints the same way.
How ordering works
One design, one size grid: enter a quantity for each size and the whole run shares the same design and the same quantity price — ten shirts across four sizes price as a ten-shirt run, not four small orders. Youth and adult tie-dye share one price ladder, so a youth tie-dye shirt costs the same as an adult tie-dye shirt at the same quantity; each product prices on its own run. The price a shirt falls as the run grows — $21.25 for one, $13.50 each at ten ($135.00 for the run), and $12.25 each at 300 and up. Team order? Add a name and number field to your design and fill in the roster: every shirt prints its own name and number, at the same per-shirt price — personalization is never an upcharge here.

Print quality
We print DTF (direct-to-film) transfers on our own wide-format equipment and press every shirt in our own shop — full color with fine detail, a soft hand, and a wash-fast finish. Youth prints are sized to youth shirts — 8.5″ wide on YXS–YS and 9″ wide on YM–YL — so the design is scaled to sit right on a kid's chest, not shrunk-in-the-wash adult artwork.
Turnaround
Orders ship in 1-5 business days, depending on blank availability. Tie-dye blanks come in from the dyer for each run rather than sitting on a shelf, so give a large order a little extra room — call or message us with your date and we will tell you straight whether it lands.

Use the designer above to lay out each print location — type, shapes, and your own photo or logo. Upload art at roughly 300 DPI at final size for the sharpest press.
About the preview
The design tool shows a mockup, not a proof. Your artwork is placed over a photo of the garment so you can judge size and position at a glance — treat it as a rough placement guide. The finished print can sit a little differently on the shirt than it looks on screen. If exact placement matters for your job, get in touch before you order and we will talk it through.
