Indiana Political Yard Sign Rules
What Indiana law actually says about campaign and political yard signs — where they are protected, where they get removed, and how close you can get to the polls. Every rule below links to the text it came from.
Indiana bars electioneering inside the polls and the chute on election day, a Class A misdemeanor, and the chute is measured 50 feet from the entrance. Electioneering expressly includes displaying a sign or placard.

Indiana rules worth knowing
IC 36-1-3-11
Around an election Indiana switches off local sign limits: a city or county may not enforce an ordinance limiting the number or size of signs from 60 days before an election through the sixth day after it. This covers signs up to 32 square feet, and genuine public safety rules still apply.
IC 9-21-4-6
A sign placed on a highway right-of-way is declared a public nuisance, and the authority over that highway may remove it without notice.
IC 32-21-13-4
An Indiana homeowners association may not ban a member displaying a sign on their own property from 30 days before an election through five days after. It may still set reasonable size, number and location rules.
Indiana's Election Division also states plainly that state law does not say when yard signs may be put out, and that a sign may not go on anyone else's property - including a right-of-way or a utility pole - without permission.
The rule that catches most people
Wherever you are, the public right-of-way is where signs get taken. It reaches further from the pavement than most people expect, and it usually includes the ditch. The field test: if the sign sits between a utility pole and the road, or on the road side of the fence line, it is probably on public land.
And remember your town has its own sign ordinance. State law is the floor, not the whole answer — size and placement on a city lot are usually set locally, and the local rule is the one enforced by the officer who drives past your sign every day.
